How do I place or attach an edible image on a cake? Do I have to use a certain type of icing?

I"ve only placed edible images on buttercream icing so far. I just use a very small amount of piping gel if the icing has crusted. If the icing hasn't crusted, I just place it on the cake. This method has worked well for me, but I only use edible images about once or twice a year, so I'm no expert.

Take a look at this:http://www.cakecentral.com/article60-Edible-Images-Chapter-2---Edible-Paper-Types--How-To-Apply-Images-to-Your-Cake.html

Also, if your icing has crusted, you can also just spritz a tiny bit of water on the area where the images is supposed to go and then apply it. Works great!
