I'm looking for a supplier here in Ireland for cake decorating supplies (local shops are useless!), as I have found some good ones in the UK but the delivery charges are too high (£37 for a few cake boards!! icon_eek.gif )

If there are any CC members in Ireland, can you recommend some good online sites that deliver?

TIA

Kelly

No you've got this all wrong Kelly, What you need is a holiday in the UK so you can come over spend hours browsing round the shops etc. then find a supplier once you get back.

On a more serious note if you visit the patchwork cutters website http://patchworkcutters.com/ you can find your nearest supplier and that would be a good starting point for your other cake needs

Good point Miss Baritone! icon_lol.gif I'm actually from London and going home to visit the folks at the beginning of December, but I have a big cake to do the week before and am having trouble getting the supplies I need for that. My visit home will be a mad dash round visiting various family members and trying to shop for all those things that I can't buy here, but just have to have - with my 3 year old in tow!

Gad, and I thought I was in the only place that hadn't discovered cake making and decorating supplies. Have a wonderful time in England, and I hope you're able to find a reliable supplier close to home. Paying for shipping is expensive enough with a pkg. travels a short distance, but across long distances they become prohibitive.

Silly thing is I just booked return flights for my daughter and I to London for 50 (about £35), but shipping from England to Ireland for 6 cake boards ranging from 5" up to 13" was £37! icon_eek.gif

Dis you try the site above like I suggested. When I typed Ireland into the location finder (under supplier tab) it brought up quite a few stores in Ireland

You might want to look into ordering the things you need, and have them delivered to a relative's house for you to collect when you're visiting. You'd have to pay (hopefully small) shipping charges, but would have time to shop around online and save lots of time in not having to go to the shops to get what you need.

I realize that doesn't help you for the cake that's due before you leave, but it may save you some trouble on your trip . . .

Laura.

Thanks Miss Baritone, yes I found a supplier in Cork (nearest city - 40 minutes away by bus), so I'm leaving my daughter with her Gran and heading up there on Tuesday (woo hoo! a whole morning to myself icon_cool.gif. Hopefully, I'll get everything I need there...

Yes, Ireland is beautiful, but very wet too (and cold!), I'd swap Ireland for Jamaica in a heartbeat! icon_lol.gif

That is so strange!!

I was just about to post that I have a very close friend here who is from Cork!! She and her husband moved here about 20 years ago when his job relocated him. She goes back a couple of times a year and I keep saying that I'm going to stowaway in her luggage!! My maiden name is Duffy....I can hear it calling me home.............lol
