I use the basic 1/2 butter, 1/2 shortening - Wallymart veg shortening is what I have always used and it hasn't given me any trouble.

I had problems with the frosting turning really greasy. Pretty bad. But we are well over our hot weather, so I wonder if that didn't have anything to do with it. It was Walmart's high-ratio in the dark blue can, not the light blue which is trans-fat free.
