Debbie Brown Cake Construction?

I have a couple of Debbie Brown books and I love so many of her creations. But I am curious, she stacks a lot of cake together and doesnt seem to indicate that she uses cake boards between cakes or between tall tiers or uses dowels to support these cakes. I made the fairy toad stool and changed the construction because I was worried that it was too much cake to be unsupported.
Just wondering what everyone who has made cakes using her instructions thinks? Some of those cakes are A LOT of work to have them come crashing down. Or am I just too worried?
I think it depends on the cake. I'm sure it can't hurt to be extra cautious if you are in doubt.
When I made the dragon castle I didn't use any extra boards. I tend to just stack the cake up and then use skewers and/or sharpened dowels to hold everything in place.

well maybe the cakes appear bigger than they really are. But still seems like a lot of cake to me. Maybe I am overly cautious. Maybe her cakes are denser than mine. But I think I can figure out how to add support to them if I feel there isnt enough. I was just curious what you all thought! Thanks!
I recently did one of her castle cakes, and I like you, was stumped with contruction, until I realized how small her creations are. The tower of the castle were made from Swiss rolls, and the only thing I did was run a skewer down the center of the three rolls. The fondant stones held it nicely to the castle, and the skewers made deconstruction much easier. I think you should take what ever precaution you fill necessary to acheive piece of mind.
