This is my first cake I've made at home. I'm in Culinary School and switched over a while ago to Pastry and Baking but we only just started cakes.

This is my first completed, totally from scratch, cake that I made at home. I loved how my carrots turned out, sorry for the low picture quality though. It's not as nice as other stuff on here but I just wanted to share anyway!

Thank you!

Very cute! The carrots look like little baby ones picked from the garden - great job!

That is so cute!!! I love the carrots. I have to do a carrot cake for a friends wedding reception and am trying to find a good recipe. Do you mind telling me where you got yours? It looks so good. Drooling....

Okay, I have to stop reading the forums when I'm hungry. Your cake looks so yummy! Carrot cake is on my list of need to bake cakes in the next two weeks. My entire family loves carrot cake and it's my dad's fave.

Hugs,

It's actually from my Le Cordon Bleu book from Culinary school, some of the recipes in there are awesome but you have to be careful because some really suck!

Oooh, that's so nice for you-Culinary school! It's my dream but at the age of 49 it may not happen for me. icon_sad.gif Plus I am renovating my kitchen right now. But that's good. icon_smile.gif

Back to the carrot cake- does it have pineapple? walnuts? raisins? The WBH book has one with raisins I think and I've got another one from WSonoma with pineapple. Both have nuts.

There's a woman in my classes who's around 55-60 and she fits in perfectly.. she's sort of like our class mama too, because the rest of us are relatively young. She fits in just fine though. You're never too old for Culinary school, you should look into it if you want to do it- they have financial aid too so even the poorest of the poor can find a way to make it work! Most culinary schools offer night classes too for people who need a more flexible schedule.

It has pineapple, walnuts, raisins, and coconuts in it. It's very moist and tasty and has more carrots than you'd typically find in a cake but it makes the flavor so nice.

We just had two kids move back home. One finished his schooling and will stay for a bit and the other moved home to go back to school. We should have moved last fall when we were alone. We got a little too secure in our empty nest. icon_evil.gif Could be worse. All four could be here. icon_razz.gif

I may still do the schooling. I've done 7 cake classes and am thinking of going for more of those with some big names.

The cake sounds lovely. I don't think I've done one with raisins. And I can't recall coconut. This couple doesn't want any coconut so that is out. But I could try it for myself. (Like I need more cake in this body!)
