I was asked to make a cake for a guy who is leaving his job as a letter carrier for a position teaching middle school science. I need help ASAP as the cake is needed for Friday...it's only for about 10-12 people so I thought I'd make a round cake, but what do I put on it? TIA for any suggestions. Deb

How about a cake decorated to look like an envelope, but addressed to "teacher"

I love the recommendation about the envelope. Here's another idea that might inspire something! HOw about a book cake with the pages decorated one to represent the letter carrier and another "chapter" for the science teacher.

I was thinking you could make a white fondant envelope to go onto the round cake, slightly opened. Have another piece of fondant sticking out representing a letter that says congrats on the new teaching job.

The envelope could be addressed to him. For the letter, let the fondant slightly dry overnight before writing on it with edible ink. If you don't plan to eat it, you can use permanant marker also.

How fun. Good luck.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I think I'll make the envelope on the cake with the congratulatory letter sticking out. I'm so glad that everyone here on cc has their thinking caps on. You guys are great! Thanks bunches!
