I made this ct to go on a cake for a birthday party Saturday. This is only the 3rd or 4th time making ct's. This is by far the largest-6 x 8. Are there any tips for making this better next time? This will go on the top of a 9 x 13 cake. Also, do any of you have suggestions for borders. I'm drawing a blank. TIA

Looks great. For a boarder maybe some web type design. Like if the cake is going to be bigger then the ct do webs off the ct like its holding it on the cake.

I made it pretty thick so that I could pick it up without breaking it---I hope!

Here is the finished cake. Everyone loved it. Peg818, thanks for the web idea. It was that finishing touch that made it really stand out. The webs are chocolate transfers, too.

That is so cute, you did an awesome job!!!! I have got to try a transfer, I've been wanting to but afraid I just won't be able to do it right icon_cry.gif The web in the corners is the touch the cake needed, very good idea peg818. Congrats on your creation thumbs_up.gif

Dixiegal01, I was afraid to try the ct's also. I HAD to give 'em a go, at the last minute, because I messed up the color flow pieces on the retirement cake in my photos. Do what I did-start off with a very simple design. Like pages from a preschool coloring book. Then, when you have more confidence, try designs with more detail. I'm just now moving into more detail stuff. And don't throw the mistakes away. Melt them down and they will usually mix to form a brownish color that you can use to outline your next design.

So, you trace over the design, then outline & fill like you do with RI ?
( I haven't done one with choc. before ! )

Yours looks fabulous on the cake icon_biggrin.gif

jules06, basically, that's what you do. I put my pattern in a plastic report cover or sheet protector(cut open on 3 sides). Then, I outline it with dark chocolate and let that set up. Do each different color the same, just let it set up between colors. And remember that you are working in reverse. Any detail that you want in the front needs to go first. I keep lifting my top clear page to see my progress. Have fun with it. After all, it IS chocolate! YUM!

I know that you can use vinyl to roll out fondant, but can you use this or anything other than wax paper for these transfers?

I really don't know about the vinyl but the ct's can sometimes stick to wax paper.
