Just getting into this gumpaste stuff, and I was looking at the instructions to make a shoe, and it says to use "gumpaste glue"..... can anyone tell me what it is.... something you make at home, or do you buy it, or what ? TIA....

Hi! You just disolve some of your gumpaste in a little water... that's all there is to it!! icon_biggrin.gif

I think the "official" recipe is 1/4 teaspoon of gumpaste and 1 tablespoon of water. If it is more diluted than that, it may not hold too well.

I always use a teaspoon of tylose powder and add to warm water.

I don't know where I would get Tylose powder... what do you do with it besides make "glue" ?
If I made the shoe this week, could I still use it on a cake a month from now ? If so, how do you store it ?
You guys are GREAT !

Dont you use Tylose to make your gumpaste? I thought you had to...hmmm..now I'm confused! You can buy it from www.countrykitchensa.com.

I'm not possitive as far as how long it would last, but I would think it could last that long. I just made my first gumpaste glue on Monday!! icon_biggrin.gif

oh sorry!! I would think that if you put it in a little jar with a lid, that would be the best way to keep it...maybe someone else who really knows will post something too!!

Hi grama_j.. your shoe should last that long. I made some gumpaste carnations for my Wilton 4 class and they still look great.. that was over 3 months ago. Just be sure to keep the shoe in a safe place, since once gumpaste hardens it breaks very easily.
