Help! Best Way For Wires?. . . .

I am going to attempt to add fondant stars on floral wire but what would be the best way to insert into the cake. This cake will be traveling about 45-60 miles. Please if anyone has advice please do tell.

I am making a cake for this weekend with fondant stars attached to wire...made the stars on the wire last night as a matter of fact!

I will be placing a single regular size straw in the middle of the cake, shaping my wires the placing the wire in the straw so it dooes not touch the cake. I think I may need to put some fondant in the straw at the bottom then again at the top to hold the wires in place.

Your welcome...I have been wracking my brain all week on this, was thinking about using the the coffee stir straws for each wire, as reccommended by other on CC, but the thought how weird it would look to have stars coming out randomly all over the cake. Not to mention all the holes you would be making.

I was wondering if you could use those plastic coffee stirrers to put you wires in and put in the cake. They kind of have two small openings in them, just a thought!

Sorry to duplicate the coffee stirrers suggestion!!! I didn't see that post when I did mine. If you stick them down far enough you wouldn't see the straw.
