So in looking for an idea for a cake for a theatre gala - I found a cake on Duff's website and used it as inspiration for the cake I designed. I don't think many people can tell what it is from the thumbnail so I ask you to look in my pics for the theatrical gala picture and let me know what you think.

Here is the link to the cake that inspired me - the cake is called Tony

I knew exactly which of Duff's cakes you were talking about without looking at his site. You did a beautiful job! icon_biggrin.gif

I love your theater cake! The black and pearls are gorgeous! Did you mold the masks or sculpt them? Very nice job!

Wow great cake. I actually like it better than Duffs. How did you make the masks? Did you use a mold or something?

I did use a mold for the masks and they are gumpaste and fondant and then when they were dry I painted them with luster dust - you guys are wonderful - thanks for the encouragement!

Great cake-would love to see a clearer picture-to see the playbills and everything-it's an awesome cake!

It seems certain times of day (especially later at night) are not the best times to post. Most people that answer immediately are already in bed I guess. I would answer anything if I had the answer...the one about the bride's flavor though I have never even heard of-wouldn't be able to help except to say "google is your friend"! icon_biggrin.gif Good luck and nice job!

That cake looks great - I agree with others about the Playbills - they are nice touch and I'd love to see a sharper image.
I like Duff and his crew a lot - but really Jeff and Mary Alice steal that show!

I will post a sharper picture - I took that one without the flash because I thought it looked nicer - I will post one of the other ones I have! Thanks again!
