Ganache Question

So talk to me about putting ganache on a cake.

I didn't do it right, because I had a mess.

Do you put yours on a wire rack or some sort of stand so that the ganache does not puddle at the base?

I've just started working with ganache so I'm no expert, but, yes, I do put mine on a wire rack over a plate to catch the excess. I'm not really a chocoholic, but that stuff could sure make me one!!
