I am getting ready to make my first batch of buttercream icing and i am not sure on the amounts. My recipe calls for 1/2 pound of crisco... how do i convert that to cup measurments I dont have a scale.....I have to get this mixed up tonight.... PLEASE HELP!!!!

according to the Cake Bible, 1 cup of shortening is 6.75 oz, so 8 oz. (or half a pound) is about 1.25 cups.
