Hi everyone! I am in need of a tip. I have a bridal shower cake to do this weekend, and the future MOB wants a 12x18 sheet with white frosting, rosettes for the boarder, silver degrege's in each rosette, and 2,4-6" silver hearts, interlocking in the upper corner. I need some ideas on how to make or buy the silver hearts. they can be of edible or plastic/silver deco. any suggestions? I do have silver shimmer dust, and was thinking of RI hearts, painted w/ shimmer dust. I want it to shine like luster dust, but don't have any available. HELP PLEASE. any suggestions are welcome!

You could make them from fondant and/or gumpaste then use the silver dust. Use cookie cutters to get the heart shape if you are not good at free hand drawing.

if u do use fondant and want them nice and shiny, mix the siver dust with some tylose glue. Then paint them.

tylose glue = 10ml tylose/gum tex + 100 ml water.
Thats how I did the acorns in the red roses pic in my photos.

Colette's Wedding Cakes features a quilted cake with silver heart dragees on it. She piped them out of royal icing, then painted them with silver dust. I believe she piped them directly onto the cake. I would pipe them onto parchment paper, paint them, then set them to give them shine and set the powder.

thanx for everyone's advice! I think I will tinker with the shimmer dust, and see what that does, it's all I have for silver! Piping RI decos first and then placing the dry ones on the cake is a smart idea. Thanx again fot the tips icon_biggrin.gif
