Hi all! I'm doing a 5 tier wedding cake this week and am charging only $2.00 per serving. It's a simple stacked all white, bc filling and icing. Fall themed with silk leaves. I'm wandering since I don't do many wedding cakes, do most of you torte each layer or simply fill between cakes?
Thanks,
Amy

I tort them all. I do not do thick fillings so I end up with 2 cakes torted for 4 layers in a tier with 3 layers of filling. (per tier).

I don't usually torte my cakes but if I was doing a 5 tier wedding cake for only $200 I would not torte. I feel that's a pretty low price for 5 tier wedding cake and torting is a lot more work. Personally I'd fill between layers with the same icing I'm using for the outside of the cake.

I agree with CarolAnn. That's exactly how I would do it too.

I don't usually torte either. I would just fill in between the layers.

I haven't torted my tiered cake either, I was wondering if you torted them if it would effect the stability of the tiers? Does anyone know?
