What's the difference in C&H powdered sugar and generic powdered sugar with beet sugar when making icing with it?

beet sugar doesn't disolve as quickly as cane sugar, so that can lead to a grainy icing.

So I could get by with it if making dummy cakes? I haven't used it for any paid orders because I wasn't sure. Thanks for the help! icon_smile.gif

sure go ahead an use the cheaper stuff. Replace your flavorings with water to save some more when working on dummies too.

I hardly ever use C & H Powd Sugar. I go to Aldi's and buy a case of off brand for .99 per bag. And it's the same brand that we use at the Cakery I work at. We don't have any problems with it at all.
