Hey, Y'all! ![]()
I've got an order for this weekend for a cake with fall colored leaves on it. I'd like to cut these with a cookie cutter out of fondant.
Is there any way I can mix up vodka with some coloring gel and paint the leaves? ![]()
Or do I have to knead the coloring into it?? ![]()
Please help! ![]()
Thanks,

I would probably do both. Marbelize with mostly yellow, and a little red, and let it create some oranges. Roll and cut you leaf shapes , then add additional color to the edges (red, yellow orange, brown or even green) and maybe some green and brown to the veining. Just a thought. I have more experience with painting and pastels than I do with fondant, but thats how I would apply an artsy approach to it!
I've never done this, so I don't have any suggestions, sorry! But I had to say that prettycake your cakes are gorgeous!! What did you make the little veggies out of? Fondant?
Thank you very much ladies
..yes everything is made of Fondant including the birds, nests etc...
Actually the one with the Blue Birds, I got First Place (Blue Ribbon) at the State Fair last August. It was Pumpkin Cake w/ cream cheese/Maple filling..
thanks again... ![]()
I like to color the fondant Orange or Copper w/ a little Burgundy.

It is not hard to do.. Just color your fondant, roll it out and cut.
For the yellow cake, I actually used real Maple leaves as my template that's why they are bigger than the orange ones. Then used a dull knife to make the "veins".. Try it.. don't worry, they will come out fine.. ![]()
good luck.. shows us how it comes out. ![]()
