I just found some sugar cookie dough in my freezer. It is wrapped in plastic wrap and in a freezer bag. Trouble is, I have no idea as to how long it's been in there. Maybe since Christmas? Valentines? Easter? Next time I will date the bag. For future reference how long will sugar cookie dough last in the freezer?

just about forever unless it looks freezer burned or something. The leftover gingerbread dough at the end of christmas was frozen and saved until the next year at the bakery I used to work at. Same with the streusel - but that was in the FRIDGE.

Are you talking about the NFSC dough ??? If so I had some in the freezer, Just wanted to try doing that . was in there for about 4-5 months... And when I used it it seemed real crumbly. Anyone know why ?? I wraped it in plastic wrap, then in 2 ziplocks It looked fine but I wasent happy with the texture to work with ! Any answers ???

No, it wasn't. It was from a neighbors recipe that tastes great but is a b&*^h to roll out. I want to just throw the ball of dough in the oven and be done with it by the time I'm finished.

My husband swears all cookies should be made this way-just throw a ball of dough in and eat giant cookies! thumbs_up.gif

I keep it in the freezer for a few months. Taste a smidge and see.
When I make cookies I use a double batch and freeze the extra in a 2-inch-thick bar. When anyone wants cookies, they thaw it, and just slice it like refrigerator cookies.
They get good cookies, and I mix up the dough only half the time - saves my wrists...
