Has anyone ever used color spray on fondant? did it work out? did it look nice? Im thinking about just spraying white fondant instead of coloring it, but looking for opitions before i do it so it wont turn into a disaster...TIA

I've airbrushed fondant, and it's pretty much the same thing. The only advice I can give is to make sure you let each layer of color dry before you add the next to avoid drips. I was in a bit of a rush on purple cake in my DS's Transformer cake http://www.cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=gallery&file=displayimage&pid=595273 and had a couple drip areas. Also avoid touching it until it dries to avoid smudges. thumbs_up.gif

I have started airbrushing my color onto fondant as much as I can lately. (In my gallery...coffee cup (pink color), race car (blue- actually luster), buzz lightyear and Super Mario (skin tone), Yellow ducky, OSU hat (that was actually two colors- yikes!), Cheetah purse....)

I agree that its imperative to make sure each layer dries before adding more color. Even strokes are important too and make sure you test your color out on paper towels first to ensure you have the color you want...and then make sure you have enough color mixed to last you for the whole job.

I'll admit that I get tired of waiting for the paint layers to dry and have been known to get a fan blowing on the cake for a few minutes.

Does that help?

Thanks, but has anyone ever used the Wilton canned color spray? I dont have an airbrush machine and want to know if the canned stuff is just as good or not?

I have and it turns out nice, the colors are very bright, I made a lot of white flowers and colored them when they were dry and then let them dry some more. But what I don't like is the spray cans are hard to control, sometimes thes spit and you don't have many colors to choose from that's why I switched to an airbrush.
Hope this helps

Thank you all for the info. I think I'll stick with the canned stuff for now but from what you say maybe I'll get an airbrush machine (I'll ask the boyfriend for it for Christmas!) Thanks!
