I have an order for our childcare centre's 10th birthday. THere will be about 100 people there. HAs anyone got any ideas on how to decorate this cake? I was thinking of mabye doing a tiered cake with each level having something to do with what you will find in a childcare centre. For example, blocks, books, crayons, balls, puzzles. But how would I incorporate all of these things.

sounds like a great idea. What i'm seeing is the bottom layer in squares like blocks, then the next layer a rectangle closed book with a box of crayons on it, Then if you need more cake the next layer could be a ball with a gumpaste puzzle propped up on it. Perhaps having the puzzle with the message on it and maybe a piece or two out of it. Laying on the floor (base board of the cake)

I'm a licensed childcare provider, and those suggestions sound great.

Here's mine: We have a schedule of activities that we do during the day; a-b-c' s & 1-2-3"s, shapes and colors, arts and crafts creative thinking play ( puzzles etc.) outdoor play (balls and bikes)so I was thinking..
If you're doing a two tiered how about the bottom tier have fondant cut outs or fbct of a,b,c 1,2,3 shapes (circles, squares, rectangles, ovals, diamonds, hearts and stars, the nesting sets would be good for this; you don't have to use all the shapes)

The second tier, if you could do a fbct you could make them and only fill in some of the transfer, place on sides of cakes and make crayons out of fondant and place near transfer ( different color than what you started in the transfer it'll look like they're about to finish coloring). Oh the most important part of this step: when you do the transfer don't forget to scribble and cross the lines. Little kids don't color for perfection yet!) It would be cute to do a bear, ball and some kind of toy ( more ideas like that depending on how big or small the second tier is) The topper should be a fondant/gumpaste puzzle book. Make the binder, then make the curvy lines with royal icing in 5 puzzle pieces which will say Name of daycare center--- 10 Years of-------Fun---Friends---and Love. Let's not forget everything in primary colors!

Please post whatever you decide; you know I can't wait to see.

Forgot to mention the puzzle book should be sticking out the top cake on tongue depressor sticks, Day cares use those for arts and crafts. See how that little detail ties into day care?
