I am trying to get some opinions on fondant...

What is your favorite type of fondant to use?

Which one do you think tastes the best?

Thanks! icon_smile.gif [/b]

I have only used willton's and MMF, and by far the best has been MMF icon_smile.gif

I think I have tried the majority of brands other than the one Albert Uster carries, I think it is called Masa Gracina? My favorite for taste, smell and flexibility is Virgin White Fondx. For chocolate I like Pettinice.

...tried'em all, LOVE MMF and chocolate MMF...making my own has proven to be the most efficient in both money and time.

My 100% favorite is Marshmallow Fondant from the following site:

http://whatscookingamerica.net/PegW/Fondant.htm

I LOVE IT! It taste amazing.

Wilton fondant is nice to work with but taste gross! And i've also tried the MMF recipe from this website but i didn't add enough water and it was too dry so i threw it out. It tasted good though. I could have fixed the problem but at the time i didn't realize haha.

My favorite fondant to use is the Marshmallow fondant I found on this website. I use it interchangeably with the White Chocolate Fondant I get from ChocoPan which is cheaper to order online directly than it is to get from the cake store. I had it in two days and couldn't believe it.

Definetely Satinice!! I haven't tried MMF yet though.

I have tried Wilton, I don't like the taste but I keep some of their precolored fondant around for accent work. I'd never cover a cake with it though.

I like Satinice.

I was not fond of Wilton's or of FondX. I liked the smell of FondX, but the bride and groom nearly needed a chainsaw to cut through it. And the taste was too chemical for me.

I've heard Chocopan and White Chocolate Chocopan are really great. I want to try them soon.

debster, i get mine at cakedeco.com or countrykitchensa.com. It keeps at least two months; I usually use it up by then.

Satin Ice will keep for one year if kept at room temp and in an airtight container.

Pettinnice (not sure about that spelling) is good and works okay but my favorite is Satin Ice. The white is good and the chocolate tastes almost like fudge to me. The only fondant I have found that my family will actually eat is the Satin Ice.

Isn't it funny, we all have different thoughts and experiences with fondant. I have heard people on another forum saying lately that they thought Satinice formula has changed because it now has a chemical smell and taste to it. I haven't had Fondx harden like that, but maybe it depends on the weather or our location. I love the taste of Chocopan but found it difficult to work with, sticky and it tore easily.

Love Satin Ice, have bought the red, green and black besides white and loved them all. Red and green are a good base to tint different shades. Have used Pettinice, but had some problems this Summer. Opened 3 packets what were ivory colored but it was labeled white.

Started buying Wilton for modeling only with Michaels 40% coupon. Can't beat the price but don't eat it. Yucky.

Tried MMF, but have not been consistant yet and it is messy, prefer the ease of premade.

I also found White Chocolate Chocopan hard to work with -- it kept tearing. Is there something else I need to be doing with it to keep it from tearing so much? I've just been using it for accents.
