Can anyone answer this question? I hate the taste of fondant, but love it's decorating properties. Is it possible to ice a cake with SMBC then decorate with fondant? I'm wondering if the fondant might be too heavy and that it will cut into the SMBC. I'm a newbie, so I'm relying on someone's expertise to help! Thanks!

Yes it works but not all techniques. Chill the cake before adding anything so that its nice and firm. Most things will work, but if you were doing swags or something you would need to make them as light as possible and make sure that they are plenty onto the top ledge instead of just stuck on the side light you can do on an all fondant cake. really thick and heavy things can slide down, but normal cut outs on the side should be fine.
