HEY YALL!
I JUST ORDERED MYSELF A SET OF CAKE DUMMIES AND NOW I WANT TO GET BUSY DECORATING! I JUST HAVE A COUPLE OF QUESTIONS..
IF I COVER THEM WITH MMF DO I NEED TO PUT BUTTERCREAM ON FIRST...AND IF I DECIDE TO DO A BASKET WEAVE WITH ROYAL ICING DO I NEED TO UNDERCOAT THAT? THANKS...LINDA

I don't know about the royal icing but I just spritzed my dummy with water before covering it with fondant and it worked great!

I do lots of dumy cakes for displays. I use piping get to make my fondant stick to a dummy. Just a light brushing.

If I were to do basked weave on a dummy, I'd probably apply it right to the dummy - no undercoat. If it won't stick, then apply a layer of fondant. No point in using the fondant if its not needed.
