Hi,
I saw some really cute photos of flip flop cakes in the gallery, but am wondering if someone can tell me what size and shape pan to use to get the shape of the flip flop? Or, do I bake a sheet cake and cut out the shape?

I'd love to make this cake for my daughter's 7th birthday, and am wondering if anyone can give me directions. (I'd need enough cake for about 25 people). I've never used fondant or MMF before, so I'd need to use buttercream.

Thanks so much in advance!!!!!!

When I did my flip flop cakes, I baked two 14" round cakes and just cut them out using a pattern I had traced on a sheet of paper (obviously reversing it for the second shoe!). I just sort of free-handed the shape looking at a pair of flip flops. The cakes wound up being HUGE, and probably would serve around 35 people.

Sorry I'm not more helpful, good luck!
