OK all...In your opinion, what is the best buttercream recipe on this site? I am making a cake and will be filling it with and covering it with the BC. So which one is the best and which one is the easiest? Thanks all!

Buttercream Icing (with Dream Whip) from the CC site.

1 packet of Dream Whip
1/2 C. Cold Water
2 cap fulls of Vanilla
2 cap fulls of Butter Flavor (can substitute w/ 1TBS of butter)
2 C. Creamed Shortening
2lbs. Powered Sugar
First take bowl and wisk from freezer
Pour entire packet of Dream whip into bowl
add water, vanilla, and butter flavor.
Mix on low until combined
Then on high until it looks like whipped cream (about 4 mins.)
Turn off mixer and add shortening
Turn mixer on Low until combined scrapping sides as needed
Once combined turn on high until completely mix
Finally "SLOWLY" add powdered sugar on "LOW" until completely mix.
(if you dont you will be in a cloud of powdered sugar) LOL
Now you are ready to ice and decorate

It is very yummy!

Is this recipe posted under "recipes"? I couldn't find it and it is easier to print a copy from there.

It is under the name "Butter cream icing". When you are in the recipe section, search using the terms dream whip and the recipe "Butter cream icing" will pop up.

Yep, buttercream dream is awesome.
Although next time I am gonna try that no crusting buttercream....says its not sweet...but I think it has a 4 or 5 star rating.

HI too all that responded to my question..So it was my first time making BC and it was very easy and I did the BC dream recipe from this site.

It was very good but I thought a tad too sweet--any suggestions on how to cut that sweetness a little?

Also, I was in a cloud of sugar when I would put into my KA mixer..can I do something different?

Lastly, I baked an 8" cake in a wilton contour pan...and I cooled then wrapped in plastic and froze it first before I torted...The top cracked..anyone know why? And it came out a little bent and curvy out of the freezer..??? So thanks to all who respond. icon_smile.gif
