I see all these beautiful cakes with tiny buttercream dots and they are in perfect rows. How are you guys doing this??? I want to do this on a cake this weekend and I simply can't figure it out.

Probably an impression mat. Or, mark where you want the dots with a ruler and toothpick and the dividing mat.

I know this is probably not the right way, but I space my top row of dots, then come back on the next row halfway between the top row of dots...then the third row is in line with the top row...and so on...
