For some reason this cake would NOT cooperate! I finally got my icing smooth but my corners were not as sharp as I would like them but I was pleased that I finally did it! As I started putting my farm animals on, I lost a sheep, my horse's head fell off and I stuck my arm in the side of my smooth icing TWICE! I fixed it as best I could. I put fence along the side of the cake to disguise the blemishes. It worked out but the fence looed half-hearted to me. Then we get to the party and a GROWN woman stuck her fingers in it! Said she thought it was that "fondue stuff". She did feel bad but why would you stick your fingers in someone's cake????? The lady I made it for loved it and everyone else had plenty of beer on board so only I noticed it's imperfections. icon_lol.gif Can anyone help me find the "magic secret" to getting sharp corners? It's the barnyard in my pics.

WOW! Your cake looks great!! The only way I was ever able to get a really sharp edge on a round cake was to use the upside down method of frosting it

Sorry I couldn't have been more help, but your cake looks fantastic!! thumbs_up.gif

I can't really help you with any suggestions, because after looking at your cake, I have to say, my edges aren't even as sharp as yours. I just wanted to tell you, even after all that, your cake is so.... cute. You really should be proud. I think we are the hardest on our selves. I'm always harder on me when I have a disappointment with my cakes. Just keep doing what you do, I think youv'e got it in the bag thumbs_up.gif

I think it looks great! You're corners and everything. And if someone thought it was fondant....that's a great compliment considering how smooth fondant looks. Great cake.

That is a great looking cake, the little animals are adorable. I can't get my corners razer sharp, so I can't help you there. Yours look fine to me. I don't get the lady sticking her finger in the cake, even if it was "fondue stuff", it is a cake to be eaten.

I wanted to spank her! We weren't there 30 minutes and she stuck her fingers in it. she's not known for intelligence that's for sure. I shouldn't be so hard on myself but we all are. My expectations are wayyyy up there and if I don't get that I'm disappointed. I guess I need to remember that I am not 13 but 31. HAHAHAHA

You're nuts! The cake is awesome! Sorry your sheep escaped and your horse almost bit the dust too, but the cake came out beautiful.

I hope that when the cake was cut, you stuck YOUR fingers into that lady's slice!

Mmmm..fondue cake...
