Hello everybody,
I'm in the middle of decorating a cake and I wanted to use stars popping out of the cake! I have seen many of the cakes here in the gallery do this where its attached to some kind of wire.
I bought a flower wire from Micheals....but now its not holding the weight of the stars icon_sad.gif
Can anybody tell me what kind of wire should I use???

Please help.

Thanks in advance,

You just need a heavier guage of wire. If you can't get out to get more, just tape two or three wires together with floral tape. Remember the lower the number 9, 12, 18, etc the heavier the wire, the higher the number 20, 22, 32 the lighter and thinner the wire.

Next time make your stars a couple days in advance, use a 50/50 mix of gumpaste and fondant, put a slight hook in the wire and dip it in water, or egg white and insert it into the star. Lay it down to dry. Then after they are dry, they work so much better!

You can't get the stars and stuff to work when you do it as you are decorating the cake.
