OK I have a question and I tried to do a seach but I got like a million returns on everything but this....Is it worth buying for me if I just use it for decorations??? Does it have a good shelf life? AND is it ready to use or do I have to knead in flavorings ect??? I would like to have it on hand for the last minute requests but ...not if it will go bad quickly.

TIA

You could always break it down into smaller amounts, wrap really well then place in a zip lock bag and freeze it.

Then you could just use what you want.

I had some frozen for about 2 months. thawed it out and it was as good as new.

Hope this helps you.

It says that it will last up to a year if it is stored properly. (at room temp). So yes, I think it is worth it! I am a recent convert from mmf. While I could do mmf pretty well, the premade saves me a lot of time and mess. I buy it from www.intotheoven.com. It is the cheapest I have found. They ship super fast and have very reasonable shipping prices!

While I don't think you would have a problem with the Satin Ice staying good I am wondering if you are just using it for decorations and not to cover you cake - why not just use Wilton. I will use Wilton as long as nobody will be eating it. You can get it pretty cheap w/ coupons from Michaels or Hobby Lobby they make premade colors and it works well for decorations. Just a thought -

Well I would Melissa but I had trouble working with Wilton icon_sad.gif I dunno why...I don't have trouble with MMF or anything....Just thought that if they DID try the fondant it could taste better....I dunno what to do....I have covered a couple of cakes and by the looks of it I might be covering more...so I think it would be good to invest in a little just to have it on hand if needed...ya know?

Oh yes, definitely worth it because of the taste!

Another thing great about Into The Oven is they are going to start selling hi-ratio shortening soon!

I love working with satin ice and if you store it right the shelf life is about a year once you have opened it.
