I had a customer push back her order a week so I had the cakes baked and icing made so I thought I would start on my son's birthday cake.

Well it came out HORRIBBBBBBLE! This had to be my worst cake ever!

I was trying to make a racecare cake-carved it out ok but after that it all

went

DOWN
HILL. I don;t know WHAT I was thinkin' but I thought I'd use pourable fondant-I've only used it once and it was pretty nice but I forgot how fast it sets...and then on a sculpted cake?!!!! It was all red and lumpy, I decided TO call it the "cake that went through lava!!!" .....until it cracked right in half.... Now I am just so uninspired and feeling no urge to touch another cake....I tell myself I just need to step awaaaay from the kitchen for a bit until the curse lifts icon_rolleyes.gif Anyone else ever feel this way?????

Eat it -- you'll feel better!

Better yet - make cake balls out of the thing - just mush & crush the tapedshut.gif out of the cake - get all those bad vibes and frustrations out.

Hey you might not be able to eat it - but the energy spent destroying might make you feel better.

After that - take a long hot bubble bath in the candle light to soothe the nerves and jump right back in - the next cake will be just wonderful - I've determine some cakes just don't want to be made no matter how hard I try to get it right.

eat it or chuck it - either way you'll probably feel better! Maybe you should go outside and see how far you can throw it.... LOL! Well not if you have pets or if you want to keep bugs away from your yard!! So maybe just dump it in the trash.... but go ahead and take a bite first.... it might TASTE good! Cake accidents happen icon_smile.gif

I think that's a sentiment icon_cry.gif shared by many! Very true! icon_smile.gif

And I agree ... take your frustrations out on it ... after taking pictures for inspiration! icon_twisted.gif You can always throw darts at the picture when you get frustrated!

I have days like this when I'm baking, and when I'm sewing. There's no rhyme or reason to it-some days it just goes right, some days not. I have learned to accept that, and the days it's not going right, I just need to step away, knowing that I can come back to whatever I'm working on after some time has passed, and have it go completely well.
You're not alone!

Thanks for all your support icon_biggrin.gif
I had gone to the store and thought when I returned I would "take it out back" and see how far I could fling it,however, my son called me and told me it was "delicious mom!!" So I just let the kids devour it-I even gave a little to the dogs! Dumb cake icon_cool.gif Acceptance frees ya up!
