Is it possible to do brush embroidery on buttercream? Or does it have to be done on fondant? If it is possible, does anyone have any tips on how to do this? Thanks!! icon_biggrin.gif

Yes, you can do brush embroidery on b/c. (Did this in Wilton I decorating class.)

But here's more:

I've done it, but I wait until it's pretty well crusted. Plus, since you're pulling icing in that technically isn't touching the cake, it works out. I have one in my pictures, but it's on fondant. I have practiced on bc though and it turned out.
Good luck! icon_smile.gif

I totally agree that Jan is very knowledgeable! It's decorators like her that make this site a great find!

I love brush embroidery. I don't do it often but have never done it on bc. I would imagine you have to wait until it is well crusted like arosstx said! It helps a lot if once you have your initial outline to pipe an additional line of icing inside the outline and brush that with a damp brush! This helps keep the shape better. I learned that the hard way!!!!

Ok, so I posted previously that I had a brushed embroidery cake in my pics - well, NOW I actually do. I posted it today when I was showing someone my pics and noticed it wasn't there. I thought I had posted it a couple weeks ago when I made it. Oops!

pickles777,

I've not done the printed rose transfer, just the cookie cutter looking flower (shown in color) on the links page.

You'll get it, I'm sure when it's explained in class!
