in the microwave? If so how would you do it? Just get the whipping cream hot and then pour over the chocolate? If so what kind of chocolate should I use? Thanks.

i don't see why not. bring the Heavy cream to a boil in the microwave and pour over bittersweet or semisweet chocolate. just be careful not to scold the cream.

that is how I make my ganache. I zap the heavy cream till its really hot, about 3 minutes if room temp. then add the choco bits let sit for 5 minutes, then stir slowly till choco melted. I always mess up my cream if try and do on stove!! I use the Ganache 1 recipe on this site.

I am not sure if you can i have only made it on the stove. i used a good quality chocolate you can use semi sweet or bitter sweet, or probably even milk chocolate. I made mine with ghirardelli company chocolate and they make bars of chocolate and chocolate chips. good luck
