I'm making a wedding cake for tomorrow and I am supposed to add a black fondant ribbon to the base. I used chocolate Pettinice and colored it black and it's fine BUT...I just happened to try it to see how it tasted and make sure it's not bitter and discovered that it stained my tongue and teeth black. Help!! That is NOT good for wedding pictures. icon_surprised.gif I used Americolor. Is there another brand that will not stain the teeth? Should I just forget the idea of fondant and just go with a fabric ribbon? Should I just try to get word to the couple not to eat the fondant?

I'm glad I found out now, but I wish I'd tried it a couple of days ago when it would have been easier to get ahold of the bride. New lesson learned...

Since it's a ribbon, maybe just tell them to remove the ribbon before they cut the cake like you would with a normal ribbon. Personally, I would stay with the fondant ribbon. I think they add a little more class to the cake than just a regular ribbon. icon_biggrin.gif

Actually, I would love to see everyone walk around with black teeth. icon_cool.gif
