It really depends on how large and where the cracks are...But one thing to keep in mind is that the cakes rest on the dowels or pillars not really the cake.. Depending on the size of the cracks if they are really big I would probably rebake becuase when you insert your dowels or pillars you are going to be creating more holes.. If you do plan to use it just make sure to use a little extra support. Good luck. HTH

I just took a cake out of the oven and part of the bottom stuck. This also never happens. Thank goodness the cake is for a boy with a fishing theme. There will be much grass and water to cover any flaws. My cake is a sheet cake. If I had yours to do, I'd be afraid that the bottom might not be firm enough to support the weight of the top tier. I really don't know. I would rebake but I am OCD with anxiety.

If it weren't a stacked cake I wouldn't fret, but being as you have to stack another on top of it, for safety measure, I would rebake the bottom tier. icon_sad.gif

I know that is a hassle, but better safe than sorry; especially if you have to transport the cake. The wrong bump could send this cake into the disaster area.

Stack tiers, wedding cake, cracks......Oh yeah, I'd definitely re-bake.

Rebake.

I've never had luck with a cracked cake. Once it cracks...that's it. It becomes a family cake then.

It stinks but it happens.
