What Flavor Filling For A Yellow Cake?

What would be a good flavor for the filling in a yellow cake? Any suggestions? I'm still practicing a lot but am tired of filling my cakes with buttercream and want something different this time but just can't decide on a flavor that will go with yellow cake. icon_confused.gif

Chocolate frosting is usually expected with yellow cake. Strawberry filling would be good as well.

Raspberry filling with buttercream icing.

Pumpkin spice filling

Almond filling with chocolate frosting

Those are a few favs around here.

Oh, you can do all sorts of stuff with yellow cake. Chocolate, strawberry or other fruits, cream cheese filling, mousses, pastry creams and the like. Lemon curd would be good, too.

one of my favs is to mix in a little apricot jam with the bc. a general tropical flavor would be good

Ugh! None of this sounds good to me. I think it's just one of those days! icon_sad.gif But, because I have all the ingredients on hand, and don't have to go to the store for any of it, I'm going with the Almond filling.

That's kinda funny cause all the females I know what chocolate on EVERYTHING, though that's mostly family members icon_lol.gif

Is the Almond filling a recipe I can find here on CC? I Love almonds... not as much as chocolate, but still. icon_lol.gif
