Hi,
I have an order for an egg and milk free cake. I already know how to substiturte the egg since my own daughter is allergic to them, but any of you know what can I do in order to relace the butter in my recipe?
I went to check at the supermarket and found "I can't believe is butter" and a "Country Stile Margarine" both with out milk. DO you know if I can bake with thm? It is the same?
Any help will be really appresiated/

Although I don't know the actual brands (I'm in the UK) I'd say certainly. I bake vegan cakes for friends and I substitute butter with a soy based margarine, and it has some really good results. I've also baked plenty of times with margarine (being a student means I can't always afford butter for cakes for me!) and they also turn out great ![]()
This site has egg-free / dairy-free recipes:

thanks for the info.
.
The Margarine that I usually use has milk as an ingredient, so I just gonna try a different brand. I'll make sure she is not alergic to soy, and I would like to try that one.

My DH is also allergic to dairy and this weekend I made her a dairy free cake. I used a recipe from this site for Cake Mixes from Scratch and Variations. I substituted soy milk for the milk in the recipe. She shared her cake with some of her friends and no one could tell!
The Crazy Cake recipe (on this site) has been my family's favorite forever. the recipe came out of the depression, when staples were in short supply, and is egg free and dairy free (as long as you're sure to use a cocoa powder with no milk solids). And it's so versatile. Don't want chocolate cake? leave out the cocoa powder and replace with flour. Want strawberry cake? No cocoa, blend strawberries in with the oil, and add a box of strawberry jello. Lemon? Add lemon extract and zest, throw in some poppyseeds if you'd like. The possibilities are endless!
It makes an incredibly moist, delicious cake, and it's as easy to make as a box mix.
