You might have a hard time coloring chocolate with food color because the food coloring will probably bead up on chocolate. If you want to try a food coloring gel it may work a little better but I'm not really sure. You might have better luck coloring chocolate while its melted using the powdered food color. Not an expert on this hope someone else can give you more advice. Good Luck.

I've worked w/ coloring chocolate quite a bit.

Water and chocolate don't like each other and if you are using food coloring it's probably water based. Gels work good but dry colors like dusts work best for me.

luster and petal dusts work REALLY well on chocolates. Just brush them on dry with a new soft "blush" brush or something similar.

They make powder colors specifically for chocolate , you can purchase cocoa butter from Lorann melt that and add the colors(a little will go a long way) and paint that onto your choc leaves. Are you using a mold for the leaves or cutting them out. If you are using a mold , paint the cocoa butter mixture into the mold before adding the choc. hth
