i'm planning a thomas cake for my soon to be 3yr old. his birthday is dec 3rd and i wanted to make the cake to look wintery. I am going to stripe my bag so the green leaves on the trees will have white edges to look like snow but how do i get the ground to look snowy without doing the entire cake white. I'm planning to have the ground green but would like a snow effect. Any suggestions on how i could accomplish this? i dont have an airbrush. I was thinking that maybe the wilton color mist might work but do they come in white and do you guys think that would work? Thanks.
I think the powdered sugar with sugar sparkles to give it the glimmer would look great.
that would probably work great. I knew i could count on you gals. I didnt even think of that. ok but do you think that the moisture from the frosting will dissolve the powdered sugar? I'm thinking of using whipped cream buttercream.
I don't think it would especially if you put it in the fridge first.
i do have a jar of white cake sparkles, i'm thinking that will work too and it will also give some texture. I'll try to combine it with the powdered sugar so if by chance the PS dissolves then the sparkles will still be there. Thanks everyone.
What about coconut and sparkles? You wouldn't have the problem of the icing sugar melting with the BC ... you could buy the tiny bits not the flaked kind ????
