It is wonderful! My buttercream recipe is all shortening. I change it to half butter and use cheese cake flavor. Viola- Instant faux cream cheese icing that doesn't need refrigeration. It tastes great.

Thank you Jenn123. That is exactly what I wanted to know. I am making parve (non-dairy) rugelach and the dairy version has cream cheese in it. I wanted a way to give it that flavor. You made my day!! icon_biggrin.gif

I have made a non-dairy cream cheese frosting for someone who is lactose intolerant-I used the soy cream cheese from a health food store, butter flavored crisco, powdered sugar, and some of the cream cheese flavoring oil. I thought it tasted really wonderful!
Try the soy cream cheese-it's pretty tasty on it's own
