I have an order for an 8" double layer (torted) chocolate cake. The cake is baked, torted and frosted in chocolate. Now I need to decorate, but I'm coming up with zero ideas and feel stupid. The cake is an anniversary cake (16 yrs) and he wants all 5 of his kids names on it along with he and his wifes. Originally, I baked a flower cake thinking I would put each persons name on a petal. But, once I baked it, I didn't like that idea. I thought it looked too juvenile. Any ideas? It doesn't have to be a masterpiece, but I would like it to be nice as he owns the local hair salon and will talk...Thanks and sorry for the rant.

You could put the couples names on top of the cake and the kids names on the sides making a ring around the cake. Good luck!

You could make a family tree with all their names. It's just an idea

You could put interlocking wedding rings on the top with the Couples names and wedding date to anniv. date, and then put the kids names on them around the side? Perhaps decorate it in their wedding colors?

Sounds very lovely, I might add.

This may be lame...I am thinking out loud...know how every wedding album has a pic. of the bride and groom's left hands overlapping? What if you did an outline of hands...complete with rings (for the anniv) part and Mom and Dad's names on the back of the "top" hand and the kids' names on the fingers? That might be really tough. I don't know. Like I said, just thinking out loud. Good luck.

I really like the ideas of the rings or maybe the hands with their names on it. What about a "Happy Anniversary *Name*" Since it seems like a gift. You could find out the birthstones of the kids and put their names in those colors OR in black with some colored crystals on each end and that could circle the top part of the cake. Then you could cut out some fondant flowers and put a little pearl in the middle and they could all go around the bottom of the cake.
Good luck with whatever you decide on!
