What does smash cake mean?

I think they mean the small cake a 1 yo gets on their 1st birthday, the one they stick their little hands in and generally make a mess with, but are so cute doing it.

That is exactly it Tygre. It is a little cake that is decorated to match the actual party cake. So little ones can have fun!
