I won't do a cake without them!! Just soak them good...in fact, I put mine in water even before I begin mixing the cake. When you have your pans prepared, just run your strip through your fingers to rid the extra water, then wrap them around your pan. No hump, baked wonderfully even! I asked Santa for another set, plus a set of the extra large ones. I've been VERY good this year..lol

I really like mine. You just get them wet, wrap them around the outside of your cake pan, and secure them in place with the pins that come with the strips. They keep the edges of your cake from cooking faster than the middle of your cake, so it all bakes evenly.

I couldn't find them years ago, forced to improvise. I cut strips about 4 inches wide from very heavy towel. Soak well before use, wrap around pan and close with large safety pin. Works well for me and cakes come out even.

I use them on every cake I bake. I truly believe they work better than without.

Get them, get them, get them!!!!!!!!! You will never bake a cake, even just a quick one for desert that you don't plan to decorate, without them again! And, because they insulate the outside edges, the cake comes out with the same moistness and texture throught. They can help a good cake turn out great!

We used them and thought they worked quite well, but we quit and just started turning the temp down on the oven. The lower temp keeps the cakes from rising in the middle.

I love them! Some ladies were complaining about a metallic smell in their kitchen when they used them. I didn't get the smell at first, but after a few uses I did.
I started putting a pan of water on the rack underneath the cake. That keeps the oven moist and the strips don't dry out. I have never had a problem with them since that time. My cakes are also very moist!

I have them and never took them out of the pack. I baked a square cake last night that was not even. I will not let this happen again. I have to bake 2 cakes this week and will use them for sure. Thanks for this post.

I love them. The only thing is I got the regular size and wish I would have gotten the larger size instead, which can be used on more pans. The regular size really only works for 8 or 9" rounds or less. My 8" square cake pan is too loarge for the strips.

I have not used them yet. I really want to buy them because when I bake my cakes the edges are really hard. When using the baking strips does that prevent your edges from being hard.

I turn my oven down to 325 and use the bake even strips. works great!
I was wondering who makes them with velcro instead of the pins though. I know I have seen them somewhere.

LillyBelle, you can pin them together and use two on one pan!
Psurrette,
I have heard that the velcro ones tend to not last as long because the velcro melts!

I thought the velcro would melt....... I can never find my pin so I use a paperclip

Never occured to me to use a paperclip! Thanks for that tip! I'm always poking myself under a fingernail trying to get those stupid wig pins through both layers. icon_sad.gif
