Okay....I did the other one (the one with the little flowers all over it in my photos). I know that I need practice with MMF and I smushed the top all to heck trying to get it angled correctly. But, it was a lot of fun. Too bad that I don't like the taste of MMF!!!

Opinions?

I saw your cake and it looks great! I haven't tried it yet but I will very soon. Would you mind sharing how you did it? How do you get the top to stay up?

Another cute one Derby...

I know we PM'd earlier about your first gift box and that I was working on one tonight too. Well, I just finished...I'll post it. No pointing fingers and laughing now!!!

it's WAY easier than it looks! I just made two perfect cubes out of a loaf pan cake. Then I cut off the top inch or so for the lid. Then I made a cake board the size of the lid. I used drinking straws for dowels in the bottom just to give support. The cake is only 3 1/2 x 3 1/2, so it doesn't really need support, but I wanted the lid to be crooked on purpose. It's all MMF except the dots in the flowers are BC. If you need any more details just let me know...trust me, if I can do it anyone can! It's my second (yesterday was my first) MMF or fondant of any kind. I've never even seen it done!

Michelle---post yours!! I can't wait to see it!! These are so much fun!

Thank you so much Derby! Both of your cakes are lovely. I am so jealous. Now, I want to stay up half the night and make cakes LOL

I love your gift box cakes. I especially like the second one you did. I really like the way you do the tissue paper. And the flowers on the outside of the box are very pretty.
