Hi everyone, I'm a newbie here; but I have a question for you all....What method do you use or prefer to do monograms on buttercream iced cakes?

Thanks,
Lillielu

cakesbycombs, I'm sorry I never heard of a satin stitch in buttercream. Can you tell me how you would do that?

Thanks,
Lillielu

I have never heard of satin stitch either. and I have been doing this awhile. I would either do it in fondant, or I would do it with melted chocolate. Just print up whatever font you want to use, and tape it to your countertop. Then tape a piece of parchment paper on top of the monogram, and pipe melted chocolate onto the outline of the letters then fill in with same melted chocolate. If you want shimmer you could gold or silver leaf the letters when they were dry. Just make sure you do them thick enough and make extras in case of breakage.

Satin stitch is an embroidery term. You would outline your letters and fill in by going from side to side until the letter is pretty solid. Janice
