Re-Melting Candy Melts?????

Hi,

First time user of candy melts. I made some chocolate rats then used white candy melts to write names on top. Needless to say I don't like how they look. Do I have to scrap them or can I re-melt them and start over?

go ahead and remelt. If the writing is out of white chocolate it will be fine. If you have used royal for the writing, take it off then remelt.

Thanks for the info. I knew there was something about "over heating" but I wasn't sure if that meant re-melting. I did use white candy so I'll just re-melt the little buggers tonite.

I'm always re-melting, and have never had a problem.

I was always told to add some new chips when re-melting. Good luck!

The previous posters are correct you can remelt. Make sure you never add any water just like chocolate they will seize up. If you melts are overheated they can seem very dry simply add paramount crystals (palm oil chips) or a tiny touch of shortening to smooth the mixture back out. If you add too much shortening the finished project will feel soft to thew touch, so add just a tiny bit if absolutely necessary.

i have remelted mine lot of times...I don't like to waste them!...but do eat the scraps too!...icon_wink.gif

I'm a remelter too. What I didn't know was about adding a touch of shortening to it.
