I have discovered stencils and absolutely love them. Thanks for the inspiration from Earlene of Earlene's cakes I was able to fill a bride's wish to acknowledge her fiance's three different professions (perimedic, fireman, policeman). She ordered a cake months ago and had decided on an armadillo since we couldn't think of a way to incorporate all of the vehicles into one as she had requested. Browsing Earlene's site and seeing the hunter and shot gun shell groom's cake the answer fell in my lap. I have been waiting months to do this cake and also dreading it. My first time applying the stencils was magic and after I drew the trees in the background and added other touches it was a pretty easy cake. I hope you will try stenciling and enjoy it as much as I have.
That is an awesome groom's cake!!! Very neat idea! I'll have to try it when I come out of retirement. ![]()
You're cake turned out wonderful! I love the different heights/levels.
I can't really give any secrets away because Earlene sells the instructions on her website. Let me just tell you one thing. It is constructed of 2 - 14 inch layers.
