I am making fondant leaves for a cake. I have tried the MMF and rolled it out, and then cut them into leave shapes. However I put them in my flower formers to dry, and they don't really get hard. I want to put them on top of a VBC iced cake. Thanks

My fondant took days to dry up. I know a lot of people add gumpaste in a 50/50 ratio with the fondant.

I use straight fondant (haven't tried gumpaste mixed in yet) and I try to roll it out a bit thinner. I also dry them in flower formers for at least overnight. It seems like the longer you have to let them dry, the firmer they get.

Last night I added a little gum tex (powder) to the fondant and all of my pieces dried much harder and I was able to put them on the cake today. icon_smile.gif

I usually add gumtex also when I need something to dry quickly.

Shivs,
Is this a trial and error in measuring the gumtex? If I use a bag of the Wilton ready-to-use fondant (small box), how much gumtex would be needed? I roll out balls/pearls alot and wished they dried quicker.
Thanks!
