carve styrofoam and cover in fondant! You can also use the hidden pillars covered in fondant for the support columns.

it's a dummy cake?

They sell wreath styrofoam circles at Micheals. The center of the round front can be a regular 6 inch or smaller round, the outside ring could be the wreath circle- and use strips of styro sheet for the supports. You could fondant each one seperately and let it dry then glue it together with Elmers glue. icon_smile.gif

I bet Doug would have a good idea! Where are you Doug?
Edited to say: Sorry Doug, we must have been typing at the same time icon_smile.gif )

Btw, Duff is not perfect...on an episode last week, he said to the camera "None of us here has ever worked in a cake shop. There are a lot of things we just don't know how to do." And then he called Colette Peters to ask for help with fondant pleats. icon_smile.gif

...and it's always Geoff who does the architectural cakes anyway.

I knew that picture looked familiar. What ever happened to mqguffey's cake? What that for a different event?

Is mqguffey your sister?

And it needs to be a DUMMY Cake, not to be eaten at all?

I don't think I would even attempt it, unless I was getting paid big bucks for it. Looks like a big company, they could afford it. Wouldn't be worth sleepless nights for me. Good luck to you.

My sister is the catering manager and talked to me about it tonight
It IS the same building, so maybe they are just looking for someone who can do it and are asking different people

i'll talk to her again tomorrow

I wouldn't do it for any less that $500. You time is worth at least that much. Norman Davis says, "Remember, you may not be able to do what they do, but they sure can't do what you do. You are a Sugar Artist". icon_wink.gif
