Everyone loved my cake!! I had so much trouble with it and I knew every little problem from cracked fondant to unsmooth spots on my buttercream, but no one else saw any flaws at all.

It was my daughters sweet 16 and we had a huge group at Texas Roadhouse this evening. When we walked in with the cake everyone there was ooohing and aaahhhing. It made me feel good but even more so when the brought it out to the table after dinner.

By then the restaurant was full and I could hear people all across the restaurant commenting on it. Then we send some of it back to the wait staff and ended up sending seconds since out waiter said that the waitresses looked like vultures fighting over it!

My neice is a hostess there and she even wanted some. Someone had her taste it and she wanted more.....She hates cake, and always has!

Here is a pic the description is in my photos.

Yeah!!!! I am on cloud 9.

What an awesome feeling that must be! There's good reason for it . . . that cake would get attention ANYWHERE. I love black and red and you pulled it together so elegantly.

Beautiful!!! I love the colors too! How did you "glue" the ribbons to the cake?

Thanks you ckkerber. I am so happy!

Thank you too.
I used a bit of butterceam (just a few dots) to hold the ribbon on. The round one is fondant but the sheet is all buttercream.

Great job! Remember - your customer sees a completly different cake than you do! I had to learn this!!!

Also - how tall is that sheet cake? It does not look very tall and I love it!

I used a 2 in sheet cake pan (12x1icon_cool.gif I think. I just bought it. It rose up to almost to the top. If I had to guess it is about 1 3/4 high. I wanted something a little different than just the sheet or just the round.

Thanks for the encouragement all!

I love the look of the bow coming down-very nice. Our favorite restaurant is Texas Roadhouse-YUM! The staff is always so nice!
