I have been asked to do a wedding cake in claret red fondant. I ordered the Satic Ice red, but it isn't the right kind of red. Any ideas?

I have claret red luster dust. If they're looking for a little shine, you can cover it in that. Personally I'd never heard of claret red before I bought the dust.

mmm... pretty sure the dust will work!! Hope they want that extra shine to their cake. Good Luck.

Alana, where did you buy it?

I picked it up at a local cakeshop. I see cakesbysam.com carries it:

I've just made some claret icing. I used a fair bit of normal red and then added 'dusky pink/wine', it turned out a really good colour. You can also get a 'claret' colouring. The brand I use is sugarflair which I get from the UK but I'm pretty sure you can find this colour on some of the US online stores.

I just made claret red with the red satin ice all I did was add black and alittle purple and it came out just the right color.
