My mother and the ladies at her work have this thing where they made like teams with the different departments and their team was the Penguins. So they dressed up as Penguins last year at christmas time... well I was on the wilton site one day and saw this cake and I've decided I'm going to make it and spruce it up some for the ladies at her work this year for christmas... pic attached ![]()
I forgot to mention... I couldn't get ahold of the original creator to get the "directions" for this but I do know it's half of the sports ball pan for the igloo and I'm assuming the door way section is the MINI sports ball pans but I don't have one of them so I was going to use the bottom of a jumbo cupcake hollowed out a bit for the front "door" and I know that the blue "pool" is piping gel dyed blue. The penguins are butter cream and the trees are sugar cones with pull out stars.
Great ideas! But how would you make the penquins out of butterceam?
From the Wilton site, about the penguins on the cakeball igloo setup:
Penguins: Figure pipe using royal icing. Using tip 3, pipe zigzag motion feet, overlapping at heel. Using heavy pressure, pipe 2A body to desired height; add tip 12 ball head. Pipe tip 3 tummy area and face, flatten with finger dipped in cornstarch or smooth with damp Decorator Brush. Tuck tip 8 into sides and, using heavy to light pressure, add pull-out wings. Add tip 2 pull-out beak, tip 1 dot eyes, tip 3 snowballs as desired. Make extras to allow for breakage and let dry.
